Okay because we are using power and curl here you wanna line the ball up with the post the keeper is guarding and fill the power bar up about a third of the way while holding UP and LEFT/RIGHT depending on which way you wanna curl it! i.e if the keeper is standing on the right post you wanna curl it left, and vice-versa. When going for the side the keeper is on it's really up to you whether you use power or not, but I'd probably recommend you do. Now as you all probably know holding up on the joypad creates more power, holding down creates less power (but allows you to get the ball up and down in a shorter space) and the left and right directions curl the ball.

If you aren't too good at free kicks I'd suggest you go for the side the keeper is on. Right when you have a free kick from this close you first have to decide if you wanna go over the wall (where if you get it low enough and far away enough from the keeper you'll score) or try and go for the side the keeper is on (ala Henry V Charlton) where you'll either score or probably gain a corner from the keeper pushing it away.

Since PES1 ML, you've always had to start with a bunch of unknowns and build your team from scratch but in PES4 a feature was introduced where you could either start with the original team (so if you're Arsenal you'd have Henry, Bergkamp, Sol, Toure etc) start with the team of unknown players or start with a completely NEW team where you can edit the team's name, kit and other things and also pic three players to put in your team (Henry, Nakata and Titus Bramble say).įirst of all I have to say the best way to learn how to take good free kicks is to go in to training and practice practice! My tips here will help you but there is no guaranteed way to score a free kick everytime due to free kicks being taken from all angles and with different players (varied stats and free kick types) and players on and off form (the form arrows). Because you chose to start with the unknown players hehe.
